From Gl\u00fcckstadt to the Kiel Canal<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

We meet at the harbor in Gl\u00fcckstadt <\/em><\/strong>a town whose very name conveys a positive mood. After a welcome and a presentation of the program in front of the picturesque backdrop of the Elbe<\/em>, we make our way to Brunsb\u00fcttel<\/em><\/strong>, where we take a look at the lock chambers<\/em> at the entrance to the Kiel Canal<\/em><\/strong> and, weather permitting, take the ferry across. With a bit of luck, we’ll be able to watch one of the 100 ships that pass through the Kiel Canal every day. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

From Marne to Meldorf<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

This Schleswig-Holstein tour continues through Marne <\/em><\/strong>the carnival capital of Schleswig-Holstein to Friedrichskoog Friedrichskoog <\/em><\/strong>where we can take a short walk along the dyke on the water’s edge. With the Wadden Sea in front of it, this little corner of the world also offers other interesting explorations on foot. Through plenty of marshland, we then reach Meldorf on this Schleswig-Holstein tour. Meldorf <\/em><\/strong>where I can show you how much land the local population has reclaimed from the sea with their so-called \u201cK\u00f6ge\u201d. The Schleswig-Holstein Agricultural Museum calls Meldorf its home and you can also experience historical hand weaving there. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

After a short tour of the Meldorf Cathedral<\/em><\/strong> we drive to B\u00fcsum <\/em><\/strong>which greets us from afar with its lighthouse. In addition to the \u201cBlanker Hans storm surge world\u201d, this North Sea health resort also has a museum harbor<\/em><\/strong> and a ferry crossing to Heligoland. The picturesque harbor promenade boasts many seaworthy fishing cutters and other historic boats. Depending on the itinerary of the Schleswig-Holstein tour, lunch may be served here. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The onward journey takes us to Heide <\/em><\/strong>where the largest marketplace in Germany awaits us. With the St. J\u00fcrgen Church<\/em><\/strong> in the southwest, Heide is also worth a stop. You can also have lunch here. We then continue through marshland and peat bog to the Albersdorf Stone Age Park <\/em><\/strong>where we can hike a little and, if we wish, visit the Dithmarschen Museum of Archaeology and Ecology. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

From Wacken to Barmstedt Castle<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

On the onward journey to Barmstedt<\/em> <\/strong>we make a short detour through the village of Wacken, which is insignificant in itself and becomes a place of pilgrimage for German and foreign festival fans once a year with the \u201cWacken Open Air\u201d. Also Itzehoe<\/em><\/strong> can also be included in the itinerary if the day is suitably planned. Once we arrive in Barmstedt, we explore the castle island with the castle<\/em><\/strong> and enjoy coffee and cake here, which we can finish off with a walk along the Rantzauer See<\/em> <\/strong>again during a walk along the Rantzauer See. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
